A Visit to Brookhaven Labs

Mrs. Heaney’s fourth grade class recently enjoyed an exciting morning of hands-on learning at Brookhaven Labs. During their visit, students explored the concept of force by conducting an experiment that measured how far a small “car” traveled depending on the slope of the “road.” Students also learned about electricity by building both series and parallel circuits, using a hand generator as their power source. After completing their experiments, the class had time to explore a variety of interactive exhibits, including displays on magnetism, concave and convex mirrors, static electricity, and more. The trip was a fun and engaging experience that gave students the opportunity to explore science through discovery and hands-on activities.
